Abstract

The literature on volvulus of the transverse colon has been reviewed. Two new cases of this rare entity are reported. The author emphasizes that etiologic factors are almost always present and must be found in order to insure adequate surgical therapy. Emergency barium enema is recommended in obstructions of the large bowel.
