Traditional obstetric pelvimetry in delivery and labor

Abstract

In a time when decreasing the number of unnecesary surgeries is of great interest, understanding normal labor, dystocic labor, and when to intervine in order to improve the fetal and maternal outcome is of utmost importance. In the following chapter we describe the history of pelvimetry, the previously characterized types of pelvis and their application to childbirth.
