Abstract

The evaluation of erectile dysfunction, using current technology, is not an exact science. No one test alone should be considered diagnostic of whether a patient can maintain a satisfactory erectile response when properly stimulated in a private setting. The algorithm in Figure 8 outlines a method of evaluation to identify either the presence of an erectile dysfunction or its cause. Papaverine injection is included, but not recommended, as a solitary test for diagnosis.
