Abstract
Sinusitis is common in patients with HIV infections and may have an atypical presentation, although most cases are due to common pathogens and respond well to conventional therapy. If patients do not improve with medical therapy, infection with atypical organisms or lymphoma should be considered and aggressive surgical treatment should be instituted if complications arise. Sinusitis in HIV infection is part of an allergic diathesis; is associated with high serum IgE levels; and management of the associated allergic inflammation is important in ensuring maximal improvement.
