Abstract

Proteomic studies of the function and subcellular localization of protein phosphatase 1 (PP1)/PP2A are discussed. PP1 and PP2A are the major eukaryotic protein serine/threonine phosphatases that regulate an enormous variety of cellular functions. PP1 and PP2A are relatively non-specific enzymes catalyzing the dephosphorylation of multiple proteins. The specificity of PP1/2A is modulated largely by their ability to interact with specific regulatory/targeting proteins.
