Preanesthetic assessment of the neurosurgical patient

The neurosurgical patient provides a unique set of anesthetic challenges. One is not only cognizant of patient's physical status but also of the neurologic state that must be maintained or improved. In this review, specific aspects of neurologic disease are discussed and the impact of these on the anesthethic plan are considered.
