Abstract

Schwannomas are rare retroperitoneal and pelvic tumors that often present as an enlarging mass. Preoperative imaging by computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging can be suggestive of the diagnosis. Traditionally, these benign tumors have been treated at laparotomy. Presented herein is a case of a pelvic retroperitoneal schwannoma that was successfully resected using laparoscopic surgical techniques. The prognosis for these tumors is favorable, but long-term follow-up is necessary.
