Abstract

The reaction between NEM and the two proteins lysozyme and ribonuclease A results, under certain experimental conditions, in the alkylation of ε{lunate}-amino and imidazole groups. The extent of reaction may be determined by amino acid analysis since the reaction products yield ninhydrin-positive zones.
