note = "Funding Information: As pediatric ORL developed in North America, there was the desire and need to properly train physicians to become competent pediatric otolaryngologist. In 1975, Dr. Charles Bluestone, the first full-time Director of the Department of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and with Dr. Sylvan Stool, created a pediatric otolaryngology fellowship program. That fellowship program has been funded by the National Institutes of Health since 1985. Several other programs were initiated, including that of Dr. Gerald Healy at the Boston Children's Hospital and by Dr. Robin Cotton at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. There are now seven Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited fellowship programs in pediatric ORL which are at the University of Colorado Denver, George Washington University/Children's National Medical Center Program Washington, DC, Pediatric, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Program Iowa City, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center/University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Program, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Program Philadelphia, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Medical Education Program Pittsburgh, and Baylor College of Medicine Program [28] .
