title = "Combining historical and contemporary exposure data to evaluate silica-related lung cancer",
abstract = "Our models serve as a platform for future analyses, identifying questions for future study (e.g., how uniform is the silica content of rock samples, how varied are the particle size distributions across locations, sources, and job tasks). If conversions factors relating particle counts and respirable mass are not uniform, then accepted exposure limits and other fundamental tools for ensuring the safety of silica workers will be open to challenge. We expect that use of integration techniques, rather than crude algebra as used in this preliminary study, will substantially improve our models.",
