Classical conditioning of cocaine's stimulatory effects

In the present series of experiments, the following questions were asked: 1) Can stereotyped behavior and hyperactivity elicited by cocaine be classically conditioned? 2) For how long can the conditioned stimuli continue to elicit cocaine-like behaviors with and without extinction? The results of these experiments demonstrate that cocaine-like behaviors can be readily elicited by previously neutral stimuli that had been paired with cocaine and that these effects, for some of the behaviors, are stable over time.
