Abstract

We studied whether the referring dialysis center was a variable that affected outcome. We did not find major differences in patient groups to explain the difference in graft survival rates. However, we could not quantitate referral or follow-up patterns. It may be that some centers refer almost all patients for transplantation whereas others only those doing poorly on dialysis. Larger studies using multivariate analyses will be required to elucidate the etiology of this phenomenon.
