Abstract
Sera of 115 patients were assayed for gamma glutamyl transpeptidase (GGTP) activity. Seventy-four were control subjects; a normal range was established for the pediatric-adolescent age group. Forty-one children had either a predominantly inflammatory disease of the liver or cirrhosis. The mean serum GGTP activity of both of the subjects in these subgroups with liver disease was significantly higher than of those in the control group; patients with cirrhotic liver disease had higher GGTP activities than did those with active inflammatory disease.
