Abstract
A diagnosis of amniotic fluid embolus was made as a primigravida developed shock at delivery. Emergency resuscitative measures were instituted prior to the onset of hemorrhage and disseminated intravascular coagulation. Prompt heparinization corrected the bleeding disorder and was significant in the patient’s survival.
