Abstract
The principles of endocrinology are presented: what is a hormone; regulation of hormone synthesis and secretion; hormone transport and metabolism; mechanism of hormone action; endocrine diseases caused by mutations in signaling components, by mutations leading to neoplasia, and by autoimmune destruction; new approaches to the study of endocrine disease.
