Abstract

The results of arteriography and selective venous sampling done in the same group of 11 patients confirm the utility of these procedures in patients undergoing reoperative parathyroid surgery. The authors conclude that neck massage is not an effective method for preoperative localization and that the combination of arteriography and selective venous sampling remains the localization method of choice in patients undergoing repeat neck exploration. With the information from this combination of localization techniques, 25 of 30 reoperative patients in a recent series have been successfully treated surgically.
