Abstract
This chapter discusses the fundamental structure of the normal central myelinated axons, as revealed by transmission electron microscopy. Topics covered include the relationship between myelin and axon the central nervous system, cross section of the myelin sheath, cross section of the axon, longitudinal views of the myelin sheath and the axon, model of the myelin sheath, and comparison of central and peripheral myelinated axons.
