Abstract

Noninvasive radiologic and imaging techniques, when coupled with a high index of suspicion, can be successfully used to diagnose and monitor the efficacy of therapy of focal suppurative renal infections in children. Antibiotic therapy alone may completely cure these lesions, with surgical drainage being reserved for those patients who do not respond clinically or who fail to demonstrate a decrease in the size of their lesion.
