Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fifth most common malignancy in men and the eighth most common in women worldwide.1 The disease has a high case fatality rate, resulting in an estimated 500,000 deaths annually worldwide, and is the third most common cause of cancer-related death.2.
