Abstract

We have used the neuroleptic tranquilizer, droperidol, in two patients with status asthmaticus and respiratory failure whose conditions worsened despite intubation, mechanical ventilation, bronchodilators, corticosteroids, and sedatives. In both cases, we found evidence of effective bronchodilation after iv administration of droperidol.
