Abstract

Postoperative graft thrombosis presents a significant clinical challenge. The etiology is often multifactorial and includes patient demographics, natural history, comorbidities, and technical issues associated with arterial reconstruction. We review modalities that aid in the assessment of the technical adequacy and patency of arterial revascularizations. This includes intraoperative, early and late graft assessments. Further, we discuss therapeutic approaches for the treatment of grafts that fail in the early (<30 days) and late (>30 days) period following bypass grafting.
