Abstract

The transmembrane action potentials and intercellular interaction of the isolated heart of a human embryo at various stages of intrauterine development and heart preparations of a human adult were studied. It is shown that the formation of the electrical properties of the ventricular myocardium of the human embryo occurs up to the 14th week of intrauterine development. The formation of electrical excitability of membranes of atrial fibers occurs earlier than that of ventricular. Intercellular electrical interaction improves during embryonic development, which is indicated by a decrease of the input resistance and increase of the decay-length constant of the electrotonic potential.
